BQ41Z90: BQ41Z90 communication with ev2400

Part Number: BQ41Z90
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO

I need support for the following request:

#################################

With samples received, we can't access to BQ41Z90.

We have proceed like eval board, but no communication with ev2400.

What software version is in the samples?

Are the samples blank?

What is the procedure step by step for programming these samples with the EV2400?

Regards,

Fabio

  • Hello,

This question has been assigned within the team and will be reviewed and followed up with another application engineer when possible. In the meantime please attach any associated .log/.gg files associated with the projects

    Thank you,

  • Hi Fabio,

Can you please share an image of the current physical setup using the EVM?

Also, while the device is powered and awake, can you please open bqStudio and use read word for 0x0D and tell us what value is produced? This can be done in the advanced comm window.

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Hi Fabio,

We too experienced the exact same issue a the beginning. Eventually we found the note on the evaluation board guide that mentions not to use the rst_sd pin.

Since we suspected the bq41z90 on the eval board was locked up, we simply replaced the part with a sample we ordered online. I only connected the ev2400 to the SMBUS port and used the latest bq studio 1.3.128 build 1a (important to use the latest). Then download the latest firmware bundle for the device to add to bq studio supported devices v0.02 build8.

We were successful in programming the device and reading on bq studio after that. Try not to pull the rst_sd pin low if your application does not need it.

To answer your question, most of the step by step actions are in the provided guide for the bq41z90.

However, there was more clarity provided on how to flash and download the firmware from the bq41z50 eval documentation. You will find some useful notes to read through from that part as well.
