Trying to find TI equivalent to mcp73831

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24203

I need to use some TI components in my circuit for the competition I am in. I would like to use something like the MCP73831 (http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Prototyping/Batteries/MCP73831T.pdf) because in my application I need as small a footprint as possible, so the fewer extra components the better. I'm trying to charge a single Li-ION or Li-Pol battery with 120 mAh capacity, so the low charge current is important. I'd looked at the BQ24203, but it provides a minimum charge current of 400 mA, so that won't work. I need more like 100 mA.

If anyone knows of a good TI chip i can use, let me know. Thanks!

  • Why do say you can not charge with less than 400mA?  The power management selection guide and the battery charger search engines are good places to look for chargers.   They can be found at www.ti.com and then click on Power Management.  For your currrents, I suggest looking at a linear charger.
