UCC 35702 driving mosfet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC35702, UCC27200

Hi all,

I have just a few  question about UCC35702:

What is the PGND pin role? It seems to be floating in the block diagram..

can I drive an HighSide N-Mosfet in a Buck converter topology?

If not, can you suggest me a driver for IRF740 on Texas Instruments?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you very much!

  • Raffaele,

The PGND and the GND pins are connected outside of the IC but using a short thick single connection.  The objective is to have both points at the same potential but to keep the currents in the drive circuit to the FET outside of the logic area of the driver. There should be a low ESR and low ESL ceramic capacitor from VDD to PGND and a second  from VREF to GND.

You can not drive a high side N-FET from a normal driver. You will need a high side driver for your circuit. I can not see anything that will meet the requirements as described. We make High-side Low-side drivers such as UCC27200.

    Regards,

    John
