Concerning the TPS63002, the maximum input voltage is listed as 5.5v, with an "absolute maximum voltage" rating of 7v.
My input voltage will usually be less than 5.5v but, rarely, it could go up to, and stay at, 5.75v (or even 6v) at up to 1.2 amps, for an hour or more.
My question is, what happens when incoming voltages are over the 5.5v maximum? Does it still reduce 5.5v down to 5v... and then start adding any additional voltage over the 5.5v limit? In other words: 5.75v would become (5.5v-->reduced down to-->5v + .25v =) 5.25v. 6.0v would become (5.5v-->reduced down to-->5v + .5v =) 5.5v, etc. Or does the TPS63002 continue to reduce the voltage down to 5v, but with increased heat production, or decreased precision/tolerance?
Also, what is the precision/tolerance of the 5v output? +/-.05v? I could not find this in the specs.
Thanks
