RE: GPIO to USB EVM Adapter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL116

Hello.

I have a problem.

I use GPIO to USB EVM Adapter for bq78PL116 EVM connection. About 1 week all was right. But today Windows says that this is "Unknown device" and cannot get driver for this.

BQWIZZARD and firmware uploader dont see this adapter. Perhaps firmware is broken.

There is any methods for repair this device? (For example reprogram by another JTAG programmer)

Regards, Artem.

  • Artem,

I have had detection problems before and several things have helped. You could try reinserting the cable with the PL116 EVM removed from the adapter. Sometimes rebooting the computer help help it to find the adapter. If the adapter has been corrupted, then you can try reloading its' firmware. Hopefully, it has not been damaged and will be recoverable.

    Regards,

    Tom

  • Artem - did you manage to fix this? I'm not working with the device personally, but someone here at work has two of them and they've both done this. The second one suddenly did it after the laptop emerged from sleep. I tried both on multiple different machines with the same result. I'm guessing there is no fix. It's dead....

When normally plugged in, it registers as a USB Generic HID device. CDC I assume and Windows takes care of it. If it suddenly comes up as "Unknown" .... the only concusion is that there's something badly wrong with the device itself.

The only conclusions is that the adapter becomes damaged in some way.

Are there other alternatives to using this device. It's been used to program a TPS65217A evaluation module from TI.

    Thanks, Conor.
