Hi Experts-

How best to charge my 8S NiMH battery pack? I want a nominal charge current of 2A and the compliance voltage could be as high as 1.6V/cell (i.e., 12.8V battery). Since this will be a charger for an emergency battery, the most important design criteria would be simple, reliable operation . Thanks and Best Regards,

Hi Tim,

The bq2004 series is a switchmode charger that offer NiMH termination features. Its an older device but is simple and reliable.

Hi Tim,

With NiMH the device charges based on the stack voltage so it doesnt matter to much how many in series there are. The EVM DV2004ES1 can show how to configure for up to 10S.
