2 level dimming of LEDs using LM3463

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3463

I am looking to drive 4 strings of LED at 100ma, ~21V.  I need to be able to provide 50% dimming when a room is sensed to be occupied via say an PIR.  Assume the input the circuit is a simple logic single and I want to be at either 100% or 50%.  I was looking at the LM3463 and using the analog dimming control, thinking that I could switch in a different resistor value to change the voltage at the Ioutadj pin.   Is this what you would recommend?

  • Hi Clay,

The LM3463 would work well for this application.  The dimming can be controlled via microcontroller or analog circuitry so that you can use your PIR sensor (what is PIR?).  What is the application for the LED driver?  Let me know how your project goes.
