TPS780 Behaviour < Vin_min

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS780

Hello,

what is the behaviour of the TPS780 when the Input Voltage is smaller than Vin_min = 2,2V.

Because for my application i would need a pass-trough function from the input to the output, starting with voltages at 1,8V (currents < 1uA)!

Best regards,

Mathias

  • Hi Mathias,

Are you trying to regulate the output voltage at 1.8V? If so, the TPS780 is not characterized for VIN below 2.2V and thus values in the electrical characteristics table may not hold.

If you are operating at dropout, the TPS780 does not have undervoltage lockout, so you can have VIN=1.8 and VOUT=1.8-VDO. One consideration is that in dropout, the quiescent current may increase.

I recommend testing your application with our TPS780 EVM. Please see link below.
