LM22677 or LM2677 for dc brushed motor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM22677

I am trying to choose between the 2 simple switcher parts. What is the difference? The application is to be adjustable and run a small dc brushed motor at 14-16 volts, 200mA, 4A stall current. I am using an LM350 now but is is too hot.  The 14 v will feed a 5v linear reg to run a ATMEGA microprocessor. Is either part acceptable? Thanks, Dave

  • The LM22677 is the newer version of the part.  In general they were meant to be pin to pin compatible.

The big difference is that LM22677 can be used at higher switching frequencies, which can decrease the size of your passive components and improve transient performance.
