Hi Ignacio,
Not sure what the '231' is referring to. The part marking has more characters, for example, see page 25 of the datasheet. Also, which package? As far as I know, this device does not have a revision. The silicon is the same from the release date (RTM), no changes have been made. The datasheet has been revised to correct errors, see page 26.
What issues is the customer seeing? There was a test added in production for battery backflow - is their issue related to this? Have they looked at E2E for any related queries?

okay, thanks . . . what are the 'technical issues' they are seeing? If it is confidential info, please send me a direct email.

Analog Applications - ACAT Dallas
Wants to be sure they get the Rev 2.5 chips, as in the previous Rev 2.2 and Rev 2.3, the chip would not charge the battery if the VUSB is < 4.7V.
<=Rev 2.3 - sampled to large customers
Rev 2.3 - on first build of EVMs
Rev 2.5 built before 201209 - is final but could have ICs that allow current to backflow from VBAT to IN/USB
Rev 2.5 build after 201209 - final silicon with test screen to prevent above
Only method to determine rev and build date is for someone to look up the top marking on a TI internal website.
based on the markings given, the customer wants to know if they are Rev 2.5 build after 201209 – final silicon.
