A merit of TPS2540 In comparison with TPS2540A

1. Merit of TPS2540

If there are specifications of TPS2540A, we think that there is not the need of TPS2540. Is our recognition wrong?

TPS2540A's datasheet says following.

"The TPS2540A/41A auto detect mode also has a longer detach detection time, so that it can support certain unique non-compliant devices."

Please teach us a merit of TPS2540 in comparison with TPS2540A.

2. About the details of "unique non-compliant devices"

What kind of device is there in "unique non-compliant devices" (="non-BCS standard devices")?

    Tsuguhiko-san,

    You can find the difference between TPS2540 and TPS2540A on datasheet page2 that TPS2540A has longer detach deteion time to support some HDD. TPS2540/40A is our 1st genneration USB charging controller and now the newest gengeration is our TPS2546.

    Will it be that there are the standard of some HDD products needing to "a longer detach detection time"?

    Will you teach us the name of a product name and the standard of these HDD?

    Tsuguhiko-san,

    What's your application and end-product, as above email point out, TPS2540 is our 1st genneration USB charging controller, now you can choose TPS2546 which is  our newest generation parts and it has best caompatability.
