Generate clean + / - 9V from 5V USB

I am looking for solutions for generating a clean ans stable +/- 9V supply from a 500mA 5V USB port.  There will be negotiation with the host to supply the full 500mA.

Are there any single chips that can do this?  Or am I looking at a separate charge pump / DC DC inverter to generate -9V, and a boost converter for +9V.  Realistically, will I have to invert boost to greater than +/- 9V and use LDOs for the cleanest signal?

The intended application is driving a wide range of headphones for high performance audio.
