TPS65100 Support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65100, TPS65120, TPS65101

Hello,

I have a question on TPS65100.

In an application I need 4 power sources,

 1)VGL at -6.8 volts

2)VGH at +20 volts

3)VCOM at +3.46 volts ?

4)VDDA  at +11 volts

I am thinking to use TPS65100.  Is the TPS65100 the best PMIC for the application?

Or do you suggest any other PMIC?

Thanks

  • Hello Cemal,

Would you please give some more details on the application you want to supply?

It is important to know the input voltage minimum and maximum as well as the output current maximum to give a good recommendation. Any other necessary information like startup sequencing or load/line transient behavior is as well a nice to have information.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte

  • Hi,

I will drive an LCD. Following table summarizes the DC characteristics.

    Parameter of DC
    characteristics
    Symbol      Min        Typ       Max     Unit
    VDD           2.3          3.3       3.6        V
    VDDA       10.8         11.0     11.2      V
    VGL          -6.5          -6.8      -7.1       V
    VGH          19.7         20.0     20.3      V
    VCOM       3.26         3.46     3.66      V
    IVDD                       - 11.575     -        mA
    IVDDA        -             15.600      -        mA
    IVGL           -               0.540      -        mA
    IVGH          -               0.245      -        mA
    IVCOM       -               0.284      -        mA

    Regards,

    Cemal

  • Hello Cemal,

Is VDD the input voltage? If this is the case, the minimum value is lower than the UVLO value of TPS65100 and therefore this part cannot be used.

Please check out TPS65120 for this application. The full load current can just be achieved with an input voltage of 2.7V or higher, but the UVLO maximum is 2.3V, so it will be able to deliver at least part of its output current down to 2.3V which might be enough for the application.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte

  • Yes. VDD is input voltage.

In our application we will use 3.3V. Therefore, I think TPS65100 can be used. Am I right?

  • Hello Cemal,

Yes, the part can be used with 3.3V. Please check the protection feature of the part. If your system does not need this feature I recommend usint TPS65101. This is exactly the same part without this specific feature.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
