Are the TPS2590 and TPS2592 devices hot-swappable?
Thanks,
Leo

Hi Leo,
So, which I/O to this device are applied/removed during hot plug/unplug event?
Leo,
If the circuit shown on pg. 1 of the data sheet is used and IN, OUT and GND are applied/removed at the same time, then the device will function as intended without damage.
I'll see if the Load Switch Apps. folks have anything to add.
Hi Jeff, the customer usage model is to supply protected power to their end customer plug-in boards or devces, while their own base equipment is powered on. They will also need to set a current limit in case of fault conditions, with a Latch-off feature if a valid fault condition exists. I also recommended the LM25069, but the customer prefers an internal switch device. The TPS25092BL would be a good solution, as long as it can tolerate a live downstream insertion condition. Further thoughts? Thanks, Leo
Hi Leo,
The TPS2592BL is made to be used as the "hot swap" device in the figure below and is a good choice for this app.providing all the features that you describe.
The device can also be used on the power source side (not on hot plug card) and will provide load current protection, input voltage monitoring, load voltage clamping and overtemp disconnect. See page 13 in the Data Sheet.
