Soft start capacitor maximum value for UCC28600

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28600

I have a UCC28600 based SMPS which is capable of delivering 5V@ 0.2Amp and 7.5V@0.15Amp but  with my load ( an electronic board built around ARM processor LM3S815 requiring 120mA at full load) connected to it the output voltage is not stabilized at it's steady state values. So i just increased the soft start capacitor from 100nF to 10uF. with this high value of capacitor, supply is providing proper output with a delay of 3-4 seconds but it is getting stabilized with load connected to it.

Can we use this much capacitor on soft start pin.

Plz clarify.

  • I don't believe there would be aproblem using a large capacitor on the uCC28600 SS pin except some custoomers would not be happy with such a long start up time.

Using a more conventional load (like, say, a resistor...) does the circuit perform well with the 100 nF SS capacitor?  Did you rule out any other causes of this problem?
