TPS2543 CDP mode issue

I am testing the EVM board for TPS2543.

But facing an issue with CDP mode.

As I understood from BC1.2 specification CDP mode should take >1.5Amps of current and also should do data communication. But this seems to be not happening. I am only able to see data communication in CDP mode no charging happening to iPad.

i need some technical support on this issue.

All the jumpers of JP3 is removed while testing. It make all CTRL pins to be high and ILIM_SEL also to high.

What's your iPad gen? Only new gen iPad like iPad4/mini iPad, etc can support data + fast charging (~1.3/14A). Our TPS2543/6 only support CDP host section, it also need device can support CDP to meet BC1.2 CDP 2 step detection.

Hi Milo Zhu,

I have tested with iPad2.

I don't have iPad4 to test. Are you sure that iPad2 doesn't support CDP?

iPad2 with CDP, charging current only is around 500mA.

Here is the iPad4 with TPS2543 CDP, you can find that, there are 2 steps detection (primary detection and second detection), but for old gen iPad, there is only primary detection, also you can take a wave to check the difference.
