LP38798 - Charge Pomp and Pin Descriptions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP38798

Hello,

Would you mind if we ask about LP38798?

<Question1>
Why are there  2pins IN and 2pins OUT on LP38798?
Is this related to heat dissipation of LP38798?

<Question2>
What is "Charge Pomp" used for?
We could find out that it is used for gare drive of the internal NMOS pass device on the datasheet.
Then, what is "internal NMOS" used for?(We couldn't find out anything about it.)

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Q1 : " ...Why are there  2pins IN and 2pins OUT on LP38798?..."

    A1 : The second pins allows for an additional bond wire to the die on the input and the output. This reduces the total dc resistance from IN to OUT, which improves Vdo.

    Q2 : "... What is "Charge Pomp" used for? ..."

    A2 : The charge pump is used for gate drive of an NMOS pre-regulator inside the "Active Ripple Rejection" block.
