TPS63061 2A/1A Output Current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63061

In Datasheet TPS63061 it states
2A/1A Output Current at 5V in Buck Mode
What does the 2A/1A refer to, are they different modes?

I am designing a 3.3V to 12V input 5V output PSU.
Below 5V 1amp output, above 5V 2amp output and looks OK from fig 2 of the data sheet.

Note we have 4700uF output capacitance, will this cause any poroblems?

  • Please refer to figure 2 in the datasheet for your current requirements as you already did.

Let me just quickly check the line in the feature list and come back to you.

Using a larger output capacitor will not cause any problems. However, please follow the instructions in the "Output Capacitor"-section in the datasheet.

  • The output current is always above 2A in buck mode except an input voltage between 10V and 12V. Here the maximum recommended output current is 1A. Page 2 of the datasheet shows this in the "recommended operating conditions" section.
