TPS 5450

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2064, TPS2052, TPS2042, TPS5450, TPS2060

I would like to acquire safety certifications for the TPS 5450. UL and CB certs and reports if possible.

Thanks,

Anthony

  • I do not think we have any safety certifications.  That would be applicable to your end product.  The encapsulation material does meet certain safety standards with respect to flammability.  The actual number escapes me right now.  If you have specific requirements I can look into this further.

  • Hi John,

Sorry for the delinquent response. We have used numerous Texas Instruments over-current protection ICs for our USB circuits such as TPS2042, TPS2064 and TPS2052. They all have at least a UL 60950-1 safety certification as well as CB (IEC) 60950-1 certifications.

Can you explain why the TPS5450 do not have any of these safety certifications? Let me know please.

    Thanks,

    Anthony

  • I am somewhat surprised to see that.  I am certain that no parts from my group have ever been UL certified.  In fact I believe this is the first time anyone has asked about it.

  • Hi John,

I can attach the CB certs if I could. Your Dallas group go to NEMKO for the CB and your UL file no. is E169910.

    http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/showpage.html?name=QVGS2.E169910&ccnshorttitle=Protectors,+Low-voltage+Solid-state+Overcurrent+-+Component&objid=1075449610&cfgid=1073741824&version=versionless&parent_id=1074427572&sequence=1

You can check it out if you like in the UL Online Certifications Directory. Can you help find out for me please? Some of the international agencies we deal with look for these certs and it would help tremendously in the process. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Yes I see that that family of parts has been certified.  If you are asking if we can certify TPS5450 (and possibly other parts), I would have to know the business case.  How many Mu/y do you plan on using?  I can see if our group wants to consider it.

  • Hi John,

Thanks for the confirmation. I will ask our Supply Management folks to start discussions. They would have a better idea about your questions.

One more thing, what about TPS 2060? Do you have any safety certs for that? Let me know please.

    Thanks,

    Anthony

  • I don't support TPS2060.  The datasheet says it is UL listed.
