Hi,
we will use TPS61032 for an USB socket. We have to provide some sort of overcurrent protection. What do you recommend for that?

I believe this depends on your application. You mentioned USB, so is this being used as a charging port for mobile devices?
If charging port, you probably want a USB charging controller which can detect what type of device is connected and charge it at the maximum current allowed.
If not, then you probably want a simple USB load switch with a fixed current limit (perhaps a 500mA limit).

We have power and charging port controllers (first option) or load switches (second option).

Edit: Aside from the above suggestions, do note that the TPS61032 has its own internal current limiting of the switch current to 4A (typ). Additionally, it has a soft start current limit of 0.4 x Isw. See pages 3 and 11 of the datasheet for further details.

thanks for the answer. Yes, we want to supply a USB port for charging mobile devices.
We chose TPS61032 because
- we run from single cell Li, thus we have to boost
- we need the low quiescent current when ideling for long on the Li cell
- we need the good efficiency from the synchronous rectifier
- we want to supply 1A
Did I miss a device of the ti portfolio which is better suited?
I'm aware of the overcurrent and overheating protection of the TPS61032. But some devices of the pilot lot blew off with some USB loads.

So it appears the application is similar to a 1-cell power bank?
We have some documentation here:
You can see from the top level block diagram that after you chose your battery charger IC, then you can use an external boost along with a USB power switch, or you can use an integrated boost & USB power switch.
For an integrated solution, we have the TPS2500 / TPS2501.

For a non-integrated solution, you can use the TPS61032 you selected along with a USB load switch such as TPS2061C:

We will either add a USB load switch or convert to an integrated solution.
