BQ20Z75 calibration

We are using BQ20Z75 in one of our smart batteries.  According to our current battery packer information, they are performing 1 charge and discharge cycle to calibrate the fuel gauge IC.

We are planning to find an alternative battery packer, and according to their information, we do not need to perform a charge cycle.  All we need is to program a specific parameters to the IC too all packs and that's it.

I also read the slua379e.pdf document, it says a golden sample is needed and the data from this golden battery after a charge/discharge cycle can be use to program to all unit.

Anyway, my question is, whether a charge/discharge cycle is needed for all battery packs for calibrating the BQ20Z75 IC?
