TPS54540 leak current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54540

Dear all.

Our cutomer is trying to use TPS54540 with the input 24V and the output 12V battery.
The 12V battery will connected before 24V input and there is a capacitor of 2000uF for momentary power failure in an input side.
Isn't there any problem?
If you have a value of the leakage current to the input from an output, please teach me.

Regards,
PAN-M

  • If you attach 12 V to the output without Vin, then the body diode of the high side FET will be forward biased and conduct.  This will charge up the input capacitor, so the current will depend on the charging rate.  !2 V will be enough to turn on the TPS54540.  Make sure EN is held low to prevent the converter from boosting the input up above the maximum voltage.
