1)Can I use TPS55340 for design:

     Vin=16V-20V

      Vout=12V

       Iout=1.5A?

2) we have the TPS55340EVM-147 for Vin=6-18V, Vout=12V/1A but when I run this data at the Webanch I got ERROR! Why?

    CORRECTION!!

    Vin should  read 6V-20V, and NOT 16V-20V!!!

    Hi eli,

    This doesn't work in WEBENCH because a SEPIC topology is required for this application. WEBENCH at the moment does not support this topology. One tool we have you can use to help with the design is the excel sheet linked below.

    Without running any of the numbers I think the TPS55340 may be very close to its current limit with 6Vin to 12Vout at 1.5 A. In a SEPIC the switch current needs to conduct the sum of the input current, output current and inductor ripple current. Not including the effect of current ripple or power losses the needed average switch current is at least 1.5 A + 3.0 A = 4.5 A.
