Question about BQ24006 Fault condition

Hi,

My customer applied BQ24006 as an 8.4V battery charge unit with the conditions below,

Vcc=10V, charge current=0.5A(R1=0.2Ω),output cap=1μF , Li-ion Battery 1900mAh

Recently, They found that BQ24006 sometimes detected the fault condition right after the battery was connected to BQ24006.

it happened once in a few dozen times, but not in all IC.

and the fault condition is cleared after BQ24006 power reclosing.

1. According to the flow chart in BQ24006 D/S page12 , Output Over Voltage( VI(VSENSE) > V(OVERV) is the only case

 that detected the fault condition right after the battery was connected to BQ24006, is it right?

 or is there any other condition which can be the cause of this phenomenon?

2. Does the over voltage detect function have some deglitch time?

Thanks

  • I am only aware of an over voltage event that can cause a fault. Can your customer use a scope shot to capture the plug in event in order to confirm that there is an over voltage event? I am not aware of fixed deglitch time. I suggest adding a decoupling capacitor as close as possible between the SENSE and GND pins.
