LM2767 diode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2767

Hi,

We have used LM2767 voltage doubler in our designs for a few years now. But recently when I was going through the datasheet, I noticed that there is a Schottky diode  between  the input and output pins. How critical is this diode? Our application draws less than 1 milliamp of current. We haven't had any problem with our design without the diode before. Is this a recent addition? What do you guys suggest?

Thanks,

Sandip
