LM5122EVM-1PH Lower Input voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5122EVM-1PH

Hi

I just the LM5122EVM-1PH eval board and so far it is working flawlessy for my application. However, I need to change the operating voltage range. currently its 9-20 in, 24V out @4.5A, I need to run down to around 6V but max could be around 14-16

what is the simplest way to change the input range? (webbench wants to change almost every component sigh)

Thanks

Rich

  • Hi Rich,

There two major design parameters in WEBENCH that drive the component selection. They are the duty cycle and user set frequency. Normally, the max. allowable frequency is dictated by the max. rated temperature of power components (IC, FETs, inductor and etc..).

So, can you please created a new design in WEBNECH with the your new design inputs ( I would suggest: Vin=6-20V, Vout=24V, Iout=4.5A) and change the ambient temperature from 30 deg. C maybe down to ~0 deg. C (Will allow for higher max operating frequency). The new design should come up with higher max. operating frequency than if the design ambient temperature at 30 deg. C.  I hope that it covers your current design frequency and if not, please reduce the ambient lower. After the design is created, please go to the Advance Options panel on the left side of the screen and check the User Preferred frequency box and enter your design frequency GUI box. Lastly, click on the Update button below.   Now, the new design should come up with the majority of the component values to match the values of your current design.

If you see too many differences, try just updating the Ruvb and the Rs components from the new WEBENCH design values.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • Hi Howard

Thanks, I'll give that a try now
