Pushing LM5050 to support Vin down to 0V

Hi, I'm wondering is it allowed to add aux. supply to LM5050 as depicted below in an effort to allow that Vin can go down to 0V. I'd like to ORing two PSU module (with tracking control) with variable output from 0 to 50V.

  • Hello Denis,
The SD1 should be ORED at the output. SD2 is not need ...
In that case if you make VIN = 0 , you still will get output from the Aux.
    Hope this answer your question..

  • This is possibly a misunderstanding or LM5050 is not the right candidate for accomplish required purpose of ORing two PSU outputs which can be set to any value from 0-50V. I was hope that adding Vaux1 will cover the "bottom-side" of the PSU1 and according to the simulation that is happened but one thing is simulation and another real circuit. As you can see Vaux1 is not the second PSU output, it's derived from the same PSU as PSU1. I cannot ORing Vaux1 (nor Vaux2) to the Out since it cannot supply more then 50mA and it will be in the conflict with PSU output is set below 5V (i.e. 3.3V) to supply load with up to 6A.

    Thanks.
