Hello!

I have a bunch of TPS54360EVM modules. I changed R6 to be a 3.83k to get the output voltage to abut 12v

I have a bench supply powering the EVMs with about 18" of 14AWG leads to the input of the EVM.

I noticed that If I power the EVM from 48v, the 54360 will short circuit (part is destroyed). If I have some load on the chip, everything is OK.

Thoughts on how to debug? I had a scope probe on the input and it looked within spec. I am going to try to get a more precise view of input and output tomorrow.

TPS54360 EVM has output capacitors rated for 10 V. At 12 V output they are essentially a short circuit. You will need to replace them with probably 25V rated parts. Bear in mind that ceramic capacitors have DC bias effect that reduces the effective capacitance as the dc voltage approaches the rated voltage. You may need to greatly increase teh voltage rating or increase the nominal capacitance. Also the inductor value and compensation components may need adjustment as well for proper operation at 12V output.

Thanks. I overlooked the output cap voltage rating. I'll take another look tonight.
