bq24167 Reset timing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24167

Dear all.

When bq24167 has finished charge state, /CHG and /PG are locked, and even if bq24167 recharge, a signal doesn't work.
When losing IN power, I think this state can be released.

How much time is needed to reset timing about bq24167?
It seems about 40 ms by measurement.

  • /PG shows state of voltage at IN or USB and is unreleated to charge. /CHG goes low (i.e., LED turns on) for the newcharge cycle only. It will not go low for a recharge cycle (i.e. battery charge terminates, battery discharges then battery charging resumes without input power power being removed and replaced). A new charge cycle is initiated only in the event of VSUPPLY POR or the battery being removed and replaced. I do not understand the timing question. Timing from what event to what event?
  • 1.During charge state, /CHG will be low.
2.When a charge ends, /CHG will be open drain.
    3.A battery isn't removed.
4.The battery voltage decrease recharge voltage.
    5.bq24167 begins to recharge.
6.But, /CHG won't be Low. (not charge state)
We need re-insertion of a battery or a reset of a device for new chage state.
I say reset that a toggled the IN voltage.
Please teach the timing of turn off to me.

  • Your steps are correct.  A new charge cycle, which resets the /CHG pin, is initiated only in the event of VSUPPLY POR or the battery being removed and replaced.

  • I need attached timing.

  • If IN drops below the UVLO threshold for 3us should be good enough to get the charge state machine to change states (assuming USB is also below UVLO).
The /CHG pin change should follow in 4-6us.
Keep in mind that, once input power rises above UVLO, bad source detection takes about 40ms before charging will restart.
  • I say to them that the system needs more than 40 ms.
