What is the difference between BQ24261M and BQ24262?

I think the main difference between the two is the default setting for Vbatreg, but what effect does Vbatreg have on the operation of the device?

I see one is 3.6V and one is 4.2V.  And I know a LiPo when fully charged is 4.2V and when discharged it is 3.6V. 

So does this mean if I choose the BQ24262 that it will always keep the battery topped up when connected to USB, while the BQ24261M will only begin charging the battery when it's almost fully drained?

    The comparison table on datasheet page 4 gives a summary of the differences.  Other than default VBATREG, the main difference is that the 261M will not start charging in standalone mode and you will have to enter host mode by writing I2C commands in order for it to start charging.  The 262 will start charging up to 4.2V at 1.0A charge current as soon as its powered.
