resonant welding inverter.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL494, UC3875, UCC25600, UC3861, UC3825

Hi There

I have simulate some solutions about the resonant 160 amps welding inverter, I need a constant voltage version fase shift or a quasi resonant UC386* version with a voltage controlled oscillator, I need that for mig welding, a constant current is not suitable.

I do see and find a lot of possibilities, I do not now what driver for the igbt,s is better, a drive schip like the IR2110 or a transformer, first is more easy and fast but with welding is this suitable, a lot of welders use a forward, I think a half bridge is for me enough, but a full bridge is not so much more expensive.

Do someone here as a LTspice model of the UC 3868 or before, like UC 3860 until 68 and a good working version of UC3875/ UC3979 is fase shift not prone of trouble with welding dutys, maybe a variable frequency quasi resonant is better, making one from a tl494 is possible but not a constant voltage because there is no vco.

Thanks for the help.

  • Kees,

I don't think the simulation models are available at this moment. IF you can't find on our website, it is just not there.

At this moment, are you looking for VCO with 50% duty cycle, or you use VCO and the phase shift control.

We have a controller called UCC25600, it is a current controlled oscillator. And you can use it to sync the UC3875 to create VCO and phase shift.

not sure this is what you are looking for.

  • Hi Bing

I need a controller who with a vco, not a fase shift because these I have models for, like the UC 3875 and 79, I want to try a resonant pwm with adjustable frequentie like the UC3861 these however are not made anymore, I need a trustable controller for a welding inverter 150amps max.

I have seen one with a TL494 but this is not a vco and only usable for a tig mma inverter (constant current), I need constant voltage or beter switchable.Have done already some interesting ones, with fase shift, it seems that the UC 3879 do better then the UC3875.

I can try to sync a UC3825 controller with the UCC 25600 this can work because the chip has a sync input, but I think there are also one chip full bridge resonant pwm converter controllers.

    regards
