Recommendation for an alternate to the LM3524D

In a separate question (e2e.ti.com/.../413587) I asked about using a FET versus a BJT. I was just working on the design and realized that the idle current for the LM3524 was almost 5 mA at 8V. Since the product I'm working on is to be battery driven, I'd like to ask if there might be a better alternative.

My output requirement is approximately 750V at no current. (It's driving a plate that generates an E-field, so the only output current of concern is the feedback circuit for regulation.)

The input at this point is undetermined, but is likely to be a couple of alkaline cells or a Li-polymer cell. So, even to use this we would need to boost the supply up to the minimum of 8V required by the LM3524. (This may be another reason to look for an alternative.)

Thanks
