TPS54060EVM-457 Load transient Measurement technique

Hi team,

I tried to perform the Load transient test as per the slvu299.pdf page no.6  sec 2.5 Load transients.

Load current steps are made as per the document.

But coming to measure AC coupled Output Voltage across C5,  I observed more than 25mV of switching noise. But as per the document there is a transient of +/-25mv. I Tried measuring with Tektronix and Lecroy scopes. Both the scopes are showing same noise across C5. I am unable to observe the transient while switching the loads.

I want to Know how the measurement was taken. Any special equipment was used? And in the document it is mentioned OUTPUT Ripple voltage is 5mVpp but getting more than 20mVpp .

  • The output voltage ripple is at steady state, not transient condition. It also does not include "switching noise" only the ac ripple component due to inductor ac ripple current. To measure the ripple you have to use 20 MHz BWL as well as "tip and barrel" method directly across C5.
