About TPS2561A Overcurrent

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2561A

Hi!

We have a question regarding TPS2561A. The TPS2561A keeps triggering overcurrent protection while there is no overcurrent in our system (Pin 6, 10 would drop to low while detecting of overcurrent), and it will turn off USB hub in our system. I would like to know if there is issue on this IC TPS2561A or not. Moreover, we found that some of our boards have powerPAD open (no solder on pad, might be the assembly issue) which connect to ground. Would this cause the issue that triggers overcurrent protection irregularly?  The version of TPS2561A is TPS2561ADRCT.

Thank you!

  • There are no known issues of this sort with TPS2561A. The P-Pad does keep the internal temperature below thermal shutdown so if you had a load which was below the current threshold but high enough to cause the die to exceed thermal shutdown the OCP flag might toggle.
