TPS61232: Webench vs datasheet design

Hi,

My customer was doing the layout for the TPS61232 on his board based off the datasheet 9.2.1 design.

However, when he checked on webench, the cap values were different. For example the TPS61230’s data sheet says that SS is connected to a 10nF cap while Webench has it at 8.2nF. Then for Cout, the data sheet says 3x22uf cap while Webench has Cout at 47uF.

Which should be considered?

Please follow the datasheet for the component selection. the effective output capacitance should be between 20uF~100uF, depend on the output ripple requirement. the SS capacitor relate to the soft start time. customer can follow the typical component in the datasheet as the start point, and modify the component if the performance of the boost converter output is not good enough for the application.
