I bought two TPS2540EVN-623 boards with TPS2540 chip loaded recently. According to TPS2540 datasheet, page 26, TPS2540 control truth table, when CTL1-3 are '1', the chip supports Charging Downstream Port, BC1.2. But in the TPS2540EVN-623 board User Guide, page 6, Table 4, it says when CTL1-3 are '1', it supports Charging Downstream Port, BC Specification1.1.

I tested TPS2540EVN-623 with Samsung S4 and I can only get about 900mA into the phone maximum. this matches with the BC1.1 as specified by the TPS2540EVN-623 board User Guide. is this correct? is it possible to charge S4 or S5 with 1.5A using TPS2540? Thanks very much

To charge the Samsung phones, you will need to use TPS2543 or TPS2546 or TPS2549Q1. TPS2543 and TPS2546 support 1.2V charging modes and you can replace the TPS2540 on the EVM with these devices (P2P compatible).

Hi Eric

I replaced TPS2540 with TPS2543 on the TPS2540EVM-623 board and ran the same test. I got exactly the same charging current 900mA maximum with Samsung S4. Is anything to do with the USB cable? I just used micro USB cable came with the phone. I have checked the jumpers on board and they all look set correctly. Any suggestions ? Thanks
