Hi everybody,

I have a few questions concerning the drivers above.

1) Is it possible to use the LM5134 as a gate driver for GaN MOSFET's?

2) What is the minimum input pulse width for the devices, i could not find anything in the datasheet.

3) What is meant with the break-before-make time for the main output?

Hi Robert,

the LM5134 can be used with GaN FETs, but the additional pilot might not provide the advantage that it would on a silicon device. This is due to the Dead time (“break before make”) between the main output and the pilot output. By the time the pilot FET turns on the GaN, depending on the application, can have time to be fully off (2.5ns).

Regarding the minimum pulse width, I would need to gather more data before giving a definite answer.

Hi Alberto,

Thanks for the information, but what if I don't use the pilot out(just main).

I want to drive pulses as low as 4ns.

Hi Robert,
you can use the LM5134 without having to use the pilot.
I will get you an answer shortly knowing that you are targeting a 4ns min pulse.

Robert,
for the LM5114 the minimum input pulse width you can expect to provide an output is 5ns.
