Advanced bqMTester software generates error code 65538 when connected to BQ20Z80

Hello everybody,

I'm having difficulties with MultiStationTester.exe software version 1.06 together with a "bq20z80 v1.02"-device.

The behavior is similar to the one in "Advanced bqMTester software generates error code 65538 when connected to BQ20Z45R1"-Thread.

I chose bq20z80 v1.02 in the MultiStationSetup-Tool but if I start MultiStationTester.exe it shows bq20z80 v1.01 in the header. If I klick "Start" I receive the error code 65538.In the bqEvaluationSoftware it shows v1.02 correctly, also in SingleStationTester it shows v1.02. This behaviour occurs on a system with Windows 7 64Bit. However, if I use the same MultiStationTester Version on a system with Windows XP 32 Bit, the tool shows v1.02 correctly and I receive no error 65538.

Am I using a wrong tool version? I'd like to use the Windows 7 system for production, how could one fix the problem?

Does the bqEVSW work properly on the Windows 7 64bit machine? I will test the bq20z80 on my computer to see if it reports the error.

Hello Tom,

bqEVSW (v0.9.52) always crashes when attempting to open the "Calibration" tab under "Data Flash". Apart from that bqEVSW seems to work properly.

The bq20z80 works with my bqMtester and it should work with yours as long as bqEVSW is working. There may be a problem with the firmware. Can you export a senc file from the device and attach it? I can try that setup.

Hello Tom,

here is the senc file which was on the device while attempting to program it again (v28_AC8106_1.senc). I also attached the senc file which my golden image is based on (bq20z80_102_default_ID0100.senc).

Sebastian,
I programmed your senc file and it works okay with the bqMtester and bqEVSW. Are you sure that the VTI parameters are setup properly? Also, are you using the EV2300 or EV2400 communications adapter? Do you have the 64-bit drivers loaded for the EV2300?

Hello Tom,

so in the window header bqMTester is showing "bq20z80 version 1.02" on your system?

I'm using the EV2300 adapter. In the device manager I can see a hid-compliant device with VID_0451&PID_0036 which is using a Microsoft driver with version 6.1.7601.18199. I'm not sure if this is the EV2300, but when I unplug the adapter, this device disappears.

When I first wanted to use the EV2300 I installed "EV2300a_Device_Driver_Installer_Multilanguage.exe".

Yes, i selected version 1.02. The EV2300a device driver file should be the correct one. Here is a link to download it, if you want to try again.

Hello Tom,

it seems like I've discovered what the problem is: If I start bqMTester with "Run as administrator" the device version is displayed correctly and I can program the .rom file.

I've seen different behavior on a Win 7 32Bit system, where bqTesterStationSetup could not change the path of the .rom-file and bqMTester threw "communication error" codes. When I started the tools with "Run as administrator" these problems were gone as well.

We have seen the same performance. I have all of my tools shortcuts set to open in "Run as Administrator" mode.
