BQ34Z100-G1: Question on commercial cells support (chemistry)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100-G1, GPCCHEM

Dear all,

We are interesting in using the new TI chip BQ34Z100-G1 to estimate the SOC of LiFePO4 battery stacks. We have already checked that the chip supports the CALB CA60FI and Winston WB-LYP (60Ah) cells (Chemistry version 469). However we would like to use bigger cells such as CALB CA180AHA (180Ah) or Winston LFP160AHA (160Ah). We would appreciate if you could confirm the chip can support these models or propose us cell types at similar Ah range.

Thanks in advance for your answers

  • The gauge can support higher capacity cells in the same way that you support the 60Ah cell. The gauge can support 29Ah capacity, so you will just have to scale by a larger amount. You probably used 3x scaling for the 60Ah pack, so you will need to use at least (180/29 = 6.2) 7x scaling to support the 180Ah pack. You can also use the online GPCCHEM tool to find a ChemID match for your cells.
