TPS563200 and TPS562200 Variation of Vfb(th)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS563200, TPS562200, TPS563201

Hi,

My customer has question about TPS563200 and TPS562200.
Could you tell me about questoin?

[Question]
- How mucu is the variation of Vfb(th), in all temperature range?

Best Regards,
tateo

  • Hello,

Please refer to figure 3 of the datasheet for the recorded variation in Vfb of the rated temperature range for these parts.

  • Thank you for your reply.

    Figure 3 is typical data.
My customer want to know minimum and maximum data.
TPS563201 is specified Vfb threshold voltage in all temperature range.

    My cusotomer want close data.

    Best Regards,
    tateo

  • Hello Tateo,

The information in the datasheets for TPS563200 and TPS562200 in the electrical characteristics table should cover the full junction temperature range of the part. While it states that the VFB variation is at 25C ambient the junction temperature is not defined for those measurements and since it is not specified otherwise them the statement that the full junction temperature range is accounted for in the measurement applies.

As you can see in Figure 3 that the plotted variation over the range of junction temperatures is well within the temperature range defined in the electrical characteristics.
  • Please refer to data sheet's data in Figure3.
    thanks!
  • Hello Koh,

Help me understand what other information you are needing outside of what is already discussed above.

For this discussion below I am using the TPS563200 datasheet.

The information in the Electrical Characteristics tables give the minimum and maximum values with some margin from a large sample set of characterization test data which shows a maximum potential variation across all parts to be only 14mV across the whole junction temperature range.
The information in Figure 3 shows typical variation that is less than 5mV over the whole temperature range and gives an example of the linear variability over temperature. This gives you an idea for the linear temperature coefficient which according to Figure 3 is about 3.5mV/100C.

With the size of these variations being on the around 1% from part to part and less than 1% across the operating temperature range for any one part with that in mind unless you are using feedback resistors that are better than 1% or even 0.5% tolerance the variation in RFB1 and RFB2 will have a greater impact in the output voltage variability than the change in the Vfbth over temperature.

If you look at the top of the Electrical Characteristics table of the TPS563200/TPS562200 datasheets it say that these measurements apply for the full range of Junction temperatures (-40C to 150C) for these parts therefore the information in the Electrical Tables are the minimum and maximum values across the operational temperature range.
  • Hi, Ryan,

let me confirm that more clearly.

I mentioned the Vfb min and max data are covered Fig.3 on datasheet already, is my understanding right?

if so, the min and max data are a little bit strange I think.

below table on datasheet shows the min is 758mV and max is 772mV at Ta25C.

but the Fig.3 shows the min is about 762mV and max is about 766mV at over temp.

I guess the Fig.3 shows only typ data as Yamashiro-san asked.

therefore, we'd like to know the min and max data at over temp.

it is no problem even if the data is estimated one.

hoping you can understand what I want to ask.

thank you for your support in advance.

    Best regards,

    Koh Hamasaki

  • Hi Hmansaki,

EC table's range contain the chip to chip variation at 25C, VFB vs Temperature is just a means value of FB voltage from -40 to 125C, so for full temperature range, we need to consider both of the variation and temperature variation, that means the full temperature range is about 754 -776mV.
    thanks!
