AC dimming LED driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3445, LM3444

We attempting to build LED lights that run on AC voltage with dimming capabilities.  We are trying to use a continuous AC voltage to power the fixtures and a small AC signal to control dimming.  Does TI have a driver with the capabilities that we require?

Thank you,

  • TI has a lot of parts that power LEDs from AC. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing a part such as does it need to be isolated or not. How much power is delivered to the LEDs and a bunch of compliance issues if it will be a product. A fairly simple part to look at would be the LM3445 or LM3444 depending on how you want to dim the LEDs. A buck converter with hysteretic control is easy to implement.
