Hello there,

I wanted to get some clarification on the TPS2051C and it's ability to cycle on and off during a heavy-overload or short-circuit event, it sounds very much like the "auto-retry" non-latching functionality highlighted in the TPS2553 (for example).

The TPS2051C is a better fit for the application I am looking at, but like the auto-retry functionality, so I'd like to see if it would perform similarly.

Yes,

For TPS2051C, the thermal cycling behavior (frequency/duty cycle) will depend on many system factors such as PCB thermals, operating ambient temperature, and the degree of output overload. If that is not of concern (ie if only the fact that it will continue to retry), then TPS2051C is a good fit.

If you want something more predictable in terms of frequency/duty cycle then the TPS2553 method would be a better fit.
