We have a legacy Lithium Ion charger design for a 3S3P battery pack that is based on the BQ2954. One of our customers is having issues regarding the behavior that is related to the Vrchg threshold of this device. The threshold value is stated as 1.92V +/-0.05V and is used to control when a new charge cycle is initiated following a charge cycle termination. Based on that value and the tolerance we’ve seen batteries be as low as 75% charge before a new charge cycle is initiated, which is not acceptable to this particular customer.
The direct question for you is whether or not that Vrchg threshold is programmable in any way, or are there other solutions to modify this threshold? I don’t know if the device is actually a micro controller based product, or if this device is actually completely an analog device.
Any information would be appreciated.
