EV2300 and BQ27210 problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27210, BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100-G1, BQ40Z50, EV2400

Hi all,

we are having a very urgent issue.

we have produced a few tenths thousands of PCBs with BQ27210.

in the last week, the EV2300 doesn't communicate with the "bq27x10 evaluation software".

  1. the software recognize the EV2300 present.
  2. when connecting only the harness to I2C output (not connected to anything!!), the software start to display data that seems like the data is receiving VDD all the time (FFFFFFFFFF......).
    example: SoC = 255 % (=0xFF).
  3. when connecting the battery we get "no acknowledgment from device".
  4. when disconnecting harness we get "no acknowledgment from device".

we tried:

  1. 3 different computers, with 32 bit and 64 bit.
  2. batteries work fine, we are able to read data from them usin a uController and get expected data.
  3. EV2300 works well when reading in BQStudio from SMBUS output BQ40Z50 chip and I2C output a BQ34Z100-G1.
  4. EV2400 we have is not recognizable by this software.

since this is our only way to re-program units in our lab it is very problematic, and we must have a solution.

thanks, Ran
