BQ51013 whats the smallest components which can be used?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013B, BQ51003, BQ25100, TIDA-00318

Hello all,

we have to design an 5V,approx 200ma output with Bq51013B/Bq51003B. we need to have a ultra-compact very thin solution. we have designed with 0603 capacitors and resistors and the circuit works. now we would like to know, will the design works, when 0603 caps are replaced with 0402 or 0201 capacitors of same values 50V rated capacitors with DSBGA package. we are looking for almost 5mmx5mm or 4mmx8mm solution with  2 layer flex PCB.so we need to shrink the design. can the circuit works properly if we choose lower size components.

Thank u

  • Chandra,

Please look at the TIDA-00329 solution (5.23mm x 5.48 mm).  This uses the bq51003 in a non-WPC solution.  The key difference is that the Cs/Cd capacitors (resonance setting) are not implemented.  If Qi-certification is needed, this will not work.  Many of the components in the TIDA-00329 are 0201, a few 0402 and 2 capacitors at 0603 (OUT and RECT).

Please look at that solution and let me know if you have other questions related to that.

The TIDA-00318 solution uses the bq51003 + bq25100 charger (5mm x 15mm).  This solution is WPC certifiable (included Cs and Cd).  This also uses 0201, 0402 and 0603 components.  I expect this could be shrunk a bit more.  This has 3 0603 capacitors for the Cs and 2 0402 for the Cd capacitors.  I expect these could be optimized and still meet certification guidelines.

    Regards,

  • Hi Dick,

Thank you for your reply. I will give it a try and will get back to you.
