TPS25910 power dissipation question

Your understanding is correct. Power dissipation means power dissipated in the MOSFET, Pd = Iout*Iout*Rds-on (max).

Unfortunately, recommend continuous load current is only 5A for this device. See the RECOMMENDED OPERATING CONDITIONS section in the datasheet.

What is the end application where 6A max current is required?

I checked again, our continuous current will be 2~3A, but peak current during power startup could be 6A, dependent on specific power circuit design.

This IC is will be a load switch that controls the Vin of a flyback circuit. End application is portable medical Ultrasound machine.

I have another question: What's the quiescent power consumption when load switch is shutdown(i.e.EN is high) while Vin still present? I did not find info such as quiescent current in datasheet. 

As we are designing portable device, the quiescent power consumption should be minimized.

The device consumes around 2.5mA current in shutdown.
