Maximum Inrush current of lm34923 @48V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM34923

Hello,

what ist the maximum inrush current of the LM34923 @48V Vin or, how can I determ it?

Best regards

Michael

  • I will move this to the non-isolated DCDC forum, where someone who has used the part can answer.

A quick look at the datasheet implies that the part enters current limit on startup to charge the output capacitors. So the inrush current would be approximately Iq (of the part) + Current Limit *Vout/Vin + Cindv/dt.

So as an example, Vin turn on from 0 to 48V in 1ms, Vout 5V, Cin= 2.2uFand enough output capacitance to take longer than a ms to start up you would get ~ 1mA+ 1.15A*5V/48V +2.2u*48V/1ms = 1mA+120mA+105mA = 226mA.

    regards,
    Marc
