Why can't TPS65286EVM convert from 20V to 15V?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65286

Hi everyone,

TPS65286 is a dual power switches with integrated buck converter.

I only want to test the efficiency of integrated buck (from 20V to 15V, light load to 6A).

So I first disable the power switches (JP2 and 3) and remove JP1 and 7.

Second, I change the divider to output 15V, R1 = 152k ohm, R2 = 6.34k ohm.

There is only 13V on output CAP after powering up EVM (no connect to load).

I try to measure again, the voltage drop to zero.

EN pin still high, FB pin become low rather than 0.6V.

I change a new IC and resistor divider to output 5V, now the EVM is normal.

Because datasheet don't mention the output voltage range, I want to know:

1. If TPS65286 can convert from 20V to 15V and support up to 6A or not?

2. if it can, what can I do next step?

Best Regards,

Allen Lee
