LM3406HV use with solenoid instead of LED

Hello,

Is it possible for me to use the LM3406HV with a solenoid as the load instead of an LED?

The solenoid characteristics are below:

Inductance: 22mH

Resistance: 7.01Ohms

I don't see why not, it is a current source. I am not sure how transient behavior would be with such an inductive load, but the LM3406 does have very fast response. There should be EVMs available to test with.

I'm not sure how much current you need or the input voltage required but the TPS92513 is a 1.5A buck with a fixed adjustable switching frequency. If 1A is enough (and the input voltage is low enough) the LM3405A is a fixed 1.6MHz buck. Both are current mode control so they don't have as fast of a response to transients a hysteretic type converter like the LM3406 will but that may not be an issue.

We do but they are multi topology parts so they are more complex. But the LM3424 and the TPS92691 are both capable of buck operation and are fixed frequency and Q grade.
