TPS61240 Inrush current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61240

We use the TPS61240 Vin:2.5V and Vout: 5V to measure the output inrush current with Cin: 2.2uF and Cout: 4.7uF.

The test result show as below.

You can see the Transient Response (enable) the Iout go to almost 860mA then down to 0A

Why the current limit doesn't work?

What value is our maximum recommend Cout?

What sequence are recommend for En and Vin?

Does this inrush current damage TPS61240?

Thanks.

Prescott

  • the CH1 should be the VOUT, what does CH2 stand for?
i'm not sure how do you measure the output inrush current of a boost converter, could you detail your test condition?
you can easily find the recommended COUT in the datasheet "Recommended Operating Condition" table.
not sequence requirement. but in real application, the VIN comes first normally, then EN.
